Research Projects

• We have created a new home for wireless research in the Computer Science Department at UCSD. It is wireless.ucsdsys.net. In addition to publications and information about ongoing projects you can find detailed information on the wireless testbed I've built at UCSD.
• Information about the sysnet wireless network, and using the provided WAG511 cards with windows and linux, can be found here (UCSD IP addresses only).
• My packet reordering work has a separate page that includes a link to download the source code for the reordering tool.

Other Projects and Activities

• I am currently the MacOS X / Darwin port maintainer for the Firebird Relational Database Engine. I also developed an in-house PocketPC / WinCE Firebird client library. Contact me if you are interested.
• I developed a MacOS X driver for the AirPrime 5220 PCCard, a 1xEVDO card used by Verizon for their wireless data network. More information, including the driver, can be found by following the previous link.
• A reasonable amount of my time is devoted to the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. I help coach the UCSD teams, and run a few UCSD local contests throughout the year. I've also been know to attend World's as an assistant coach.
• I developed a MacOS X kernel extension to solve a "fork: resource temporarily unavailable" problem (fix also applies to the "vfork" variant of the error). The extension and a more detailed description of the problem can be found here.
• I finished the System V Semaphore implementation in Darwin. The changes were included as of xnu (the Darwin kernel) version 6.0 (OS X 10.2). A kernel extension implementation is still available for older systems.
