Understanding and Dealing with Packet Reordering

OVERVIEW

When dealing with large multi-path networks packet reordering is expected. This RAMP project is focused on understanding the implications of packet reordering both in a general sense and specifically how it relates to multi-path networks. Additionally we plan on developing techniques to mitigate the effect of reordering on performance and correctness of network protocols.

Our current work has focused on developing tests to measure the amount of reordering present in a network. This work has resulted in an IMW '02 paper that presents a series of techniques that measure reordering. You can download the latest version (0.8.1, updated Mar-10-2003) of our source using this link. If you have problems or questions with the source or any other aspects of this project please feel free to contact me (bellardo@cs.ucsd.edu).
